Thank you for the great tip re eggshells. I came across your page as I too brought some PSB seeds from Kings - we used to eat this in the UK on our OE and fell in love with it. I just wasn't sure when to plant it but you've cleared that up - lots of thanks there. I found spraying my brassica leaves with a homemade mix of dried chilis, crushed garlic, boiling water and a bit of oil seemed to work. Let it cool in a container and then steep for 5 days before straining and using. It does stink though. I would then use a seaweed spray about 5 days later. I'm going to try that this year along with your eggshell tip.

Thanks for the detail you have given. I have wondered about growing garlic here on the Sunshine Coast. It is so expensive for Aussie grown garlic in the supermarkets that I assumed that it must be very touchy to grow, but you make it sound ok. I am keen to give it a go now.
Thank you again.

Please let me know what you think.

Look forward to hearing from you Reanne

Thanks for dropping by my blog and for the advice about egg shells.

I've been playing with some ideas for growing vegetables. But to be honest, am wondering if its cost effective as my youngest son is about to leave home which only leaves the two of us. And we can buy fresh produce easily at the market. And we only have a very small garden. But at the same time, I remember the fresh veg my dad used to grow with great fondness.

I too would be very interested to know where I can get peastraw around the Wairarapa as I have a heap of garden which needs mulching.
Like others I also look at your website most days and I enjoy it.

I've just turned over a trench in the new garden for garlic, shallots and some sneaky spring spuds. Thanks for the timely reminder.
